He's a perfect commander.He will do anything to ensure that the Elvhen people have a place to survive after the Fifth Blight. Born as a mage to Malcolm and Leandra, he spends nearly all of his time learning to wield magic for good, but the temptation of blood magic is passed on to him.He is a sweet and charming man. His jokes may never land, but he won't stop making them. Varric and Anders are his best friends, and he doesn't agree with either of them half the time. Defending Kirkwall is an afterthought, keeping what remains of his family is his goal. Niir is 34 years old by the time Veilguard begins. Niir is how his name is written in-universe, Near is how he writes it in Common. Obviously, he is a necromancer. He exclusively uses spirit-based necrotic spells.After Near was found in the Necropolis as a baby, he spent some time in an orphanage in the Nevarran upper city. He ran away to live with a nearby Dalish clan until his magic started showing, and the clan dropped him back at another Nevarran orphanage because they thought he'd have a better chance with the mortalitasi organizations than them. He was also a handful, and more annoying than the other children. He was adopted formally and joined the Mourn Watch as a teenager, showing great promise in the necromantic arts. He has a great deal of knowledge of the Elvhen, and despite them having left him, he is still in contact with the clan that took him in briefly.His personality is the same as rook in-game, there's not much to say there. He's extremely depressed all of the time, and he feels like he's losing his mind, probably because he is. Despite being around death nearly every waking moment of his life, he struggles with his grief. His combat style is very flashy, a shocking amount of flexibility and athleticism goes into him throwing an orb around.he/him - bisexual - cis

He comes across as very rude and always angry due to his monotonous tone. He rejects Bhaal. His fatal flaw is that he has empathy as loathe as he is to admit it. He genuinely feels bad for what he's done, but he enjoys it and doesn't want to stop, not that he even can. He has commit atrocities that he can never atone for and never will. He perpetually weeps out of one eye because it doesn't belong in his body.He spent ~200 years in Menzoberranzan and his feelings toward Lolth are very complicated with his emerging desire to follow Bhaal. Drow do not consider him one of them, and only non-drow view him as one.His warlock patron is wrapped around his body, his tattoos ever-moving similarly to Orin's changeling skin. He is not allowed to utter anything about his pact, and he cannot reveal to anyone that he is a warlock as part of the pact. The infested star that fuels his spells wants to devour everything in it's path, and Vein is the best vessel to do so.he/him - gay - transgender man

Viktor is 25.Born an only child due to every other sibling dying in transit to Terra or being killed on Terra for failing as psykers. When he was five he became incredibly sick with something no one could determine, causing his leg to be amputated and become wheelchair bound. He had a very crude prosthetic due to his parents not particularly caring about his leg. A classified incident caused his entire family to go mad from the warp, causing their brains to melt out of their heads.Viktor was put on a black ship and taken to Terra where he was tortured and experimented on due to imminent death from the disease he carried in a very crude, uncaring attempt to "figure out what it is". There is a minor chance he could survive and train to become a psyker, but ultimately it doesn't matter to anyone on the ship whether or not this psyker dies. He is lobotomized, cut in half, sewn back together and resuscitated. His dead arm is cut off and later reattached to his now living body only for it to reject, extremely withered and sensitive. Without biomancy it will decay further. He must be hooked up to machinery at the base of his spine for routine maintenance on his implants to prevent him from breaking the limiter that dampens his psyker abilities.Typically displays unusual amounts of kindness and hospitality to people who are considered the lowest of the low even if they are rude to him. "Hard" to anger to those in his retinue but his fuse is incredibly short. He is genuinely very cruel and will keep up the illusion of kindness to the very end, executing people who become optimistic they'll live. The best way I can describe him is that he splits on people constantly. He is well versed in imperium law and religion, but he does not consider himself religious and doesn't believe in dogmatic decisions. He's veering very closely to heretical rather than iconoclastic. He gets along with drukhari more than humans.he/they/she - bisexual
